Purpose of Chat Feature

The chat feature is provided to:

• Support learning-related communication
• Facilitate communication between learners and between learners and teachers
• It is not intended for social networking or purely entertainment purposes

Prohibited Content

Users must NOT send or share the following content:

• Offensive, harassing, or threatening content towards others
• Adult, pornographic, or inappropriate content
• Spam, advertising, or fraudulent content
• Malicious links or misinformation
• Content that violates applicable laws

Platform Rights

We reserve the right to:

• Delete violating messages without prior notice
• Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
• Restrict chat privileges if a user is found to be abusive

Chat Privacy

Regarding privacy in chat communications:

• Private messages are only visible to the participants of the conversation
• We do not monitor or read private messages unless a report is submitted
• Community chat messages are visible to all users in the community
• We do not sell or share chat data with third parties for advertising purposes
• Chat data may be disclosed if required by law or to protect the safety of our users

Reporting and Moderation

To maintain a safe environment:

• Users can report inappropriate messages or behavior
• Reports are reviewed by our moderation team
• We may take action including warning, restricting, or banning accounts based on reports
• False or abusive reporting may result in action against the reporting user

Blocking Users

Users have the ability to block other users:

• Blocked users cannot send you private messages or friend requests
• You can unblock users at any time from your settings
• Blocking does not delete previous conversation history
• We encourage users to use the block feature before escalating to a report

Message Storage and Deletion

Regarding chat message data:

• Chat messages are stored temporarily
• All messages are automatically deleted after 24 hours
• Deleted messages cannot be recovered

User Responsibility

Users are fully responsible for:

• The content they send
• Their behavior when using the chat feature

Age Requirement

Users must be at least 13 years old to use the private chat feature. A verified birthday is required before accessing chat, and this information can only be set once. Users under 13 are strictly prohibited from using chat features in compliance with COPPA and other child protection regulations.

Premium Subscription Cancellation

• You can cancel your premium subscription at any time from your account settings
• After cancellation, you will continue to have premium access until the end of your current billing cycle
• There are no cancellation fees
• Service will automatically revert to the free plan after expiration
• You can resubscribe to premium at any time

Account Deletion

If you wish to completely delete your account:

• Contact our support team to request account deletion
• All personal data and learning progress will be permanently deleted
• This action cannot be undone
• Any active premium subscriptions will be cancelled

Data Retention

After account deletion:

• Personal data will be deleted within 30 days
• Some data may be retained for legal compliance purposes
• Anonymized data may be kept for analytical purposes
• Payment history may be retained as required by law

Purpose

The Voice Chat feature is provided for:

• Practicing English speaking and conversation skills
• Connecting with other learners at similar proficiency levels
• Discussing guided topics to build real-world communication ability
• It is not intended for social networking, dating, or non-educational purposes

Age and Identity Requirements

To access Voice Chat, users must:

• Be at least 13 years old, verified through a mandatory date of birth submission
• Provide their gender for matching purposes
• Date of birth and gender can only be set once and cannot be changed
• Users under 13 are strictly prohibited from using Voice Chat in compliance with COPPA and other child protection regulations

User Conduct During Calls

When using Voice Chat, users must NOT:

• Use offensive, abusive, or threatening language
• Engage in harassment, bullying, or discriminatory behavior
• Share personal contact information or solicit personal details from others
• Record, stream, or distribute voice calls without the other party's consent
• Use Voice Chat for advertising, promotion, or commercial purposes

Matching and Anonymity

Regarding how users are matched:

• Users are matched randomly based on language level and optional interest preferences
• Your display name and profile picture are visible to your conversation partner
• You can skip or end a call at any time without penalty
• Parroto does not guarantee the identity, qualifications, or behavior of matched partners

Safety and Reporting

To maintain a safe environment:

• Users can report inappropriate behavior during or after a call
• Users can block partners to prevent future matching
• Reports are reviewed by our moderation team and may result in warnings, restrictions, or account bans
• False or abusive reporting may result in action against the reporting user

Disclaimer

Regarding Voice Chat interactions:

• Voice calls are peer-to-peer — Parroto does not record or monitor live conversations
• Parroto is not responsible for the content of conversations between users
• Users interact at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety
• We do not guarantee the availability, quality, or continuity of voice connections
